Days of Asparagus

sparoga1Asparagus is one of the most revered and respected wild plants that grow in the region of Istria. Season for them begins in very early spring and lasts until the end of April so that this period in Istria is also called the ‘days of Asparagus ‘ where numerous restaurants, taverns offer a variety of dishes made from this unique plant. Cities which this interesting event will be held are Umag, Novigrad, Brtonigla and Buje in the period 25.03 – 15.05. sparoga_content_largeThere are many specialties of asparagus that are certainly worth a try so many guests choose this particular time to visit Istria. Asparagus is one of the most balanced nutritional vegetables. They are low in calories, rich in vitamins, minerals and fiber, which makes them ideal food for those who want to eat healthy and yet maintain a slim figure.
